Reviews: Blossoms Live At Brighton Dome (In Pictures)
You know that a band understand its audience when they use “Don’t Want Me, by the Human League” as their entrance song. It sent that vibe for their whole set; I honestly did not feel cool enough to be allowed in… let alone to be allowed to capture it. Blossoms have an atmosphere that radiates and makes the audience feel like they are at an inmate gig with only 100 people.
In the background, Brighton Dome felt as if there wasn’t anywhere else worth being, as the Stockport band performed songs such as fan-favourite “At Most A Kiss”, “Ode To NYC” from their latest album Ribbon Around the Bomb, massive single “My Girlfriend” and “I Can’t Stand It”, before offering up a glorious encore of “There’s A Reason Why” and “Charlemagne”.
From Tom Ogden serenading the balcony, and the audience serenades them back, Blossoms put on an excellent show, as always. You walked away feeling so much better; in the cold, wet England that is genuinely falling apart, that is an awe-inspiring feat.
After their Brighton show, Blossoms took over London, Belfast and Dublin, before rounding up their tour with four massive sold-out homecoming shows in Manchester from December 8 to December 11
You can catch Blossoms live next July at Sounds of the City in Manchester and Leeds, and before that, they’ll be performing with The Kooks in Ireland in June. You can also keep up with their future tour dates here.
