The Driver Era - Evening at Banquet - 27.1.24

An evening with The Driver Era aka the boyssss, I guess is the best way to put it. It was the best way to spend a Saturday night, being serenaded by two incredibly talented boys along with 500 other women screaming, dancing and singing along to their beautiful guitar playing.

Saturday kicked off at Banquets record store for a signing. This was my first ever experience of record signing at Banquets and, as the most awkward human in the world, this was an interesting experience. I had my vinyl signed and then just ran away - I don’t get starstruck (sorry lads) and there is far too much pressure to think of something witty to say in 10 seconds. I didn’t even get a picture (oops)!

I like this pairing of a record signing followed by a show - Banquets are known for them and have perfected them over the years so it was nice to experience one first-hand. I cannot recommend them enough. The Banquet staff are super friendly and as efficient as a well-oiled machine.

I did enjoy the show - more than I thought I would, actually. I’ve heard that seeing The Driver Era is an experience in itself, up there with Harry Styles and as much fan interaction as a Taylor Swift show, and the rumours are true. Finding out it was an acoustic show did make me wonder if it was going to feel half-baked, but I was happily proved wrong. It was a 45-minute set of pure happiness, fun and joy. It felt like a massive group singing along at the top of your lungs with your new bestie standing next to you - all that was missing was the campfire and marshmallows.
