You Me At Six - 10 years of Cavalier Youth Tour - 18.2.23

So about last night was “the beginning of the end” - Josh Franceschivi stated as they opened for their set. It was the perfect way to celebrate 10 years of Cavalier Youth, which was a tour I saw many moons ago, and I absolutely love the fact that they brought Deaf Havana back to support them just like they had back then. As you know, I’m a sucker for some nostalgia

I had the pleasure of seeing You Me At Six several times last year. As a fan (I have been since I was 15 years old) I did feel like things weren’t quite right with the band. I felt like their performances were just not like they used to be. I put it down to the fact that they were touring so much, and that shit is exhausting. (If you look back at the touring calendar last year, it was impressive and extensive).

Their performance last night at The Portsmouth Guildhall was phenomenal - it was on a level with their Reading performance! I do believe this announcement of retiring the band (I think that’s the right way of putting it), has taken a lot of pressure off of them. And that's a good thing. They can just have fun and go out the way they want to.

Side note: they also ticked off one of my bingo boxes for “what I needed to see before they retired the band”, and that was when they performed The Swarm live - so thank you for that YM@6.

I’m super excited to see what the next year to 18 months brings for the band. I have some guesses on what we could potentially see from them, but whatever they bring, the last phase of the band is going to be phenomenal, and last night just brought that home and set the standard.
